Syrah Rose

Syrah Rose explodes on your palate.  Try this refreshing rose wine today!

Although the Syrah grape is best known for the hardy full-bodied syrah wine, it is also used to make mouth-watering rose wines.  Syrah Rose is a refreshing and incredibly popular wine, especially in Summer months.

The way that Syrah rose is made is that Syrah grapes are crushed and the skin remains in contact with the grape juice for two to three days.   The skin is then discarded.  The main difference between how Syrah rose is made and Syrah wine is made, is that in Syrah wine the grape skins remain in the juice throughout the fermentation process.  Because the skins contain tannins and other compounds that give Syrah wine its strong taste, Syrah rose has a much lighter taste that is similar to that of white wines.

Syrah rose can also be made through a process called saignee.  Saignee takes advantage of a byproduct of the Syrah wine making process.  To increase the tannins and deepen the color of Syrah wine, wine-makers remove some of the pink juice from the must vat.  While this pink juice can be discarded, it can also be fermented separately and made into Syrah rose.

A refreshing rose can be enjoyed on hot summer days.  It also pairs well with many foods, including pasta dishes and seafood dishes.
